My
grandma passed away today. This morning, I received a text from my father,
telling that she had been called by God about two hours earlier. She’d been in
the treatment for her cancer in her 70s, but she looked tough,as long as I remember.
My
grandma was a strong lady, perhaps because she was a midwife. But I’d prefer to
say that she gained her strength from the Lord. It was her strong faith and zealous in the Lord
that I most remember of my grandma. There were times when I visited her and
found the house was empty because she was going out for church ministry.
I
also recall how she always told me to pray a thanksgiving, not just before, but
also after I had my meal—long time ago, as I was a little boy.
When
I visited her in the hospital a couple of months ago, she said that it was her
first time being a patient. Usually, it was her who took care of patients. To my
memory, she looked so energetic, and around ten days ago when my wife and I met
her, there was no sign of despair. Not at all.
On
the contrary, she appeared healthy, telling us, especially my wife who’s
expexting a baby, to be active so the birth process would be less painful. She was
also very happy to tell us how the Lord has blessed her with health and strength.
But
the Lord has all the more beautiful plan for her. Her faithfulness has been a
great example for the family. Her eyes has seen the Lord’s blessing all over
her life. She has had the chance to see her great grand sons. And just like
Paul the apostle, she has been faithful until the end, more than ready to see
her Saviour.
So
long, grandma, we’ll meet again in the much better place than this. We’re gonna
follow your footsteps of faith, until we see each other again.
We're pilgrims on the
journey of the narrow road
And those who've gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God's sustaining grace
Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who've gone before us
Let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives
CHORUS:
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
After all our hopes and dreams have come and gone
And our children sift through all we've left behind
May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover
Become the light that leads them to the road we each must find
REPEAT CHORUS
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
